GrapheneOS Factory Reset¶
Overview¶
GrapheneOS is a free and open-source, privacy and security focused, Android-based operating system for Google Pixel smartphones, tablets and foldable devices.
There are times when the phone becomes unusable, for example in the event the user forgets their password. In these instances a full factory reset can be used to regain access to a working phone.
NOTE: THIS PROCESS WILL DESTROY ALL DATA ON THE PHONE! BE SURE YOU HAVE ANY DATA THAT YOU REQUIRE BEFORE BEGINNING THIS PROCESS!
Perform a Factory Reset¶
Step 1. Power the phone OFF.
Step 2. Hold the Power button + Volume DOWN simultaneously until the bootloader screen appears.
Step 3. Use the Volume DOWN button to navigate to Recovery Mode and use the Power button to select.
*You should see an Android laying down with the chest opened.
Step 4. Press the Power button and tap Volume UP once, then immediatly release both.
Step 5. Use the Volume DOWN button to navigate to Wipe Data / Factory Reset.
Step 6. Press the Power button to select.
Step 7. Press the Volume DOWN button and use the Power button to select "Yes".
Step 8. Wait for the process to complete and then reboot the phone.
